Willingness

Mentors - Bennie Harris

"Know that no matter what others may say, think or do, "You are a success now," and NOTHING can hinder you from accomplishing your good. All the Power in the universe is with you. Feel it, know it, and then act as though it were true."

Ernest Holmes, "The Science of Mind"

What is it that you are seeking to express today? Or, better said; what is it that is seeking to express "through you", today?

As we approach the end of 2010, all of us are contemplating that which we would like to accomplish in the New Year. But truthfully, we are always giving consideration to that which we'd like to accomplish, daily! (Why are we stuck waiting until New Year's to resolve to do great things?)

Key question here is one of willingness, are we willing to allow this new idea to unfold and express through us? Are we willing to allow this new idea to change our lives and do for us what we have only dreamt of on those sleepless nights?

In my own life, I know that there is always that something, that new idea, that's seeking life through me, but like many of you, the thought is noted, then "shelved."

Why do you do this? In myself, I recognize that it is fear, doubt or uncertainty. Basically, it's an un-willingness to trust that "still small voice within" that knows the way. The "gurus" might say that it's an un-willingness to get outside one's "comfort zone' but in its lowest common denominator, it's FEAR!

As a child living on the Monterey Peninsula, I remember taking swim lessons at Seaside High school, during the summer. One very memorable summer, as the swim session was coming to a close, I was happily swimming, kick-board and all. I loved every moment of it, as long as my feet could touch the bottom of the pool and my head didn't go under the water!

Like it was yesterday; I vividly remember my instructor inviting us each over to the deep pool to "certify" our swim ability by having us jump from the side, tread water, then swim back to the side. The final test of our ability would be jumping into the water from the low diving board.

Talk about willingness! Now came the real test of my willingness to allow what I knew, (my ability to swim) to prove Itself to me and my instructor.

This is really no different than any other aspect of our lives today; our life is always a test of our "willingness" to allow that which we know, to prove Itself to us and through us.

Well, after much trembling, considerable uncertainty and a slight "shove" (seemed like a giant push then) from my instructor, I was in the "deep pool", treading water and "swimming for my life!"

I LOVED every moment of it!!! It was all too easy, especially after the initial "shove."

Initially, I was not willing to allow that within me, "that knew I could", to express Itself through me.

Applied to my everyday life as a thinking, mature adult, I recognize that I must willingly allow my life to unfold by saying 'YES" to my inner "knower." I must have the willingness to trust, believe then know with certainty that "all the Power in the universe" is with me, for my good, and that I can prove it.

What about you? I know that in your life, there is a similar story, a vivid remembrance of a joyful experience that resulted from your willingness to allow it to be.

What about today, do you have the willingness to move into a new experience? I'm willing!

To your Peace, Power and Possibility.
